Terms of use

Terms of use.

The rules for using Sanchay, in plain words.

Last updated 27 October 2026

These terms

These terms are between you and Karthik Kumar, an independent developer based in Bengaluru, India ("we", "us"), the maker of Sanchay. By downloading or using the Sanchay app or this website, you agree to them. Our privacy policy explains how the app handles your data and is part of these terms.

The app

Sanchay is a free budgeting app for iPhone and Android. There's no account, no subscription and nothing to pay for inside the app. We may add, change or remove features over time.

Not financial advice

Sanchay helps you keep track of what you spend. It doesn't give financial, tax, investment or legal advice, and nothing in the app or on this website should be read as such. Decisions about your money are yours.

Your data and backups

Everything you enter stays on your phone and belongs to you. Because we don't keep a copy, we can't recover it if your phone is lost, reset or damaged, or if you delete the app. On iPhone, turning on iCloud backup in the app is the way to keep a copy; Sanchay on Android has no backup. You're responsible for keeping your device secure and for your backups.

Automatic logging

Logging from bank messages, notifications, receipts and Siri reads text automatically and can sometimes get an amount, merchant, date, account or category wrong, or miss an expense. Please check your entries, especially before relying on a budget or total.

Apple and Google services

Some features use services from Apple or Google: on iPhone, Shortcuts, Siri, Apple Intelligence and iCloud; on Android, Gemini Nano and notification access. Those are provided by Apple and Google under their own terms, and they work only on devices and versions that support them.

If you got Sanchay from the App Store, your licence to use it is also covered by Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement. If you got it from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service also apply.

Using Sanchay

Please use Sanchay only for lawful purposes, and don't try to copy, reverse-engineer, resell or interfere with the app or this website, except where the law allows it.

Ownership

The Sanchay name, logo, app and website, including their design and text, belong to us. Using the app doesn't give you any rights to them beyond using the app as intended. The brand files in our press kit may be used to write about Sanchay.

No warranty

Sanchay is provided "as is" and "as available". As far as the law allows, we make no promises that it will be error-free, always available, or suitable for any particular purpose.

Limits on liability

As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, savings or money, arising from your use of Sanchay. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that can't be limited by law.

Changes and ending

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the date at the top of this page, and continuing to use Sanchay means you accept the new terms. You can stop using Sanchay at any time by deleting the app.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute will be handled by the courts in Bengaluru, India.
